A kingdom on the brink of war.
A king on the fringes of insanity.
A family running for their lives.

Ash and Fin’s only desire is to be together and dive into their happily ever after, though their conflicting worlds work to pull them apart. Neither is ready to convert to the other’s life: become a human or a mer. Little do they know that somewhere in Natatoria a secret holds the fine fabric of everyone’s lives together. If the truth is discovered, Ash and Fin will no longer have the luxury of waiting. They’ll be forced to choose. But will it be for loyalty or love? Or will someone else make the choice for them if they can’t decide?

Enter the watery world of treachery, greed, and the binding mer kiss as the story continues with Evergreen, book two of Mer Tales.

Review:

I think I mentioned this during my review of book 1 but the world in this book is just so beautiful and mystifying. The way Brenda brings the scenes to life is truly amazing. This book brings an even more intense journey for Ash and Fin. Although their story seemed to just begin, they have huge decisions to make in order to be happy.

Ash could be frustrating at times, but she was trying to adapt to the new things being thrown at her. Fin is just incredibly swoonworthy! We get to meet some new, fabulous characters in this story but I did miss Fin's sister Tatchi a lot. I really enjoyed her during book 1 and hope to see more of her in the next installment.

One of my favorite aspects of this book is that a lot of questions are explained in regards to the life of a mer. Along with that, there is so much action, drama, on top of twists and turns on every page. Fin has to go away for a while and this leads to a few secrets being kept. I did wish the characters could have been more honest with each other.

The main theme of this book was love and hope. I really felt that Fin and Ash had that desire to be together and their hope helped to get them through. It was easy to connect with them due to this and I liked seeing the book from both points of view.

I highly recommend this series if you are a fan of mermaid/merman books. This series provides a nice spin on the traditional story.
